The National Institute for Consumer Rights Protection (Pro Consumeror) has issued a safety alert for Nissan vehicles on three models of its brands, both of which are Patrol (Y61); Pathfinder (R50) and X-Trail (T30), from 2001 to 2004, which are defective air sacs.

The entity reported that Santo Domingo Motors, the official representative of the Nissan brand in the country, has notified 337 vehicles that could have this damage in the Dominican Republic.

Risks to the driver

Pro Consumidor and Santo Domingo Motors state that, under certain conditions of heat and humidity, the air bag inflator can expose the driver and / or passenger to excessive pressure from the inside causing a potential rupture.

They indicated that this malfunction allows the normal activation of the airbag in the event of collision or collision to spread metal components that could cause serious injuries to the driver.

Concerned models

The Consumer Advocate Entity invited owners of the alerted vehicles to contact the company they acquired to coordinate a review of these models free of charge.

“Pro Consumeror has reiterated its commitment to maintaining an update and activation of control mechanisms to prevent the sale and consumption of products that pose a risk to the health and safety of Dominicans and in the event of doubt about the information in this alert, you can contact our social networks.”, The entity said in a statement.

The state entity stated that the models participating in this alert are Nissan Patrol (Y61), 2001-2004, Nissan Pathfinder (R50), 2002 to 2003 and Nissan X-Trail (T30), 2001 to 2004 and chassis numbers can be verified. In the Security Alerts section of the Professional Consumer page.
