Canadian singer Celine Dion, who suffers from a rare neurological disease that causes erectile dysfunction, said in an interview that she would return to the stage “even if it means crawling.”

In an interview with American network NBC, which will be published in full on Tuesday, Dion said she would do everything possible to return to acting despite the syndrome, which causes stiffness in the muscles of her body and limbs and creates severe cramps. .

“I'm going to crawl back on stage. Even if I have to talk with my hands, I will,” Dion, 56.

The interview takes place shortly before the premiere of the documentary about her life, “I: Celine Dion,” to be released June 25 on Amazon Prime.

“I am Celine Dion because today my voice will be heard for the first time, not because I want to or because I want to. But because I want and need it,” the Grammy-winning singer said. ” “My heart will go on.”

In December 2022, Dion announced that she had been diagnosed with Severe Person Syndrome, a progressive autoimmune disorder for which there is no cure. However, its treatment can help control symptoms.

According to the United States National Institutes of Health, the condition affects women twice as often as men.

“It's like someone is strangling you,” Dion said, adding that the pain can radiate throughout the body, and sometimes the spasms can break a rib.
