The British Council of Argentina announced the implementation of scholarships for women in the region to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics in the United Kingdom with the aim, they said, of “reducing the gender gap in these areas and promoting development of leaders “.

The objective is “to increase the leadership of women in these areas (STEM for its acronym in English, in reference to: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), which in Argentina still represent one of the sectors with less female participation” , indicated a statement from the institution.

Those who are selected will have the opportunity to study at prestigious institutions such as the University of Bristol, Cranfield University and Imperial College London, among others.

The scholarship covers tuition costs, monthly allowance, travel expenses, visa fees, and health coverage. On the other hand, if any student wanted to travel with their children, they could request it.

There is also the possibility of preparing with a short English course in order to reach the level of language necessary to carry out your studies.

The scholarships are intended to support women from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Jamaica, Peru, Venezuela and Mexico, so that they can pursue a master’s degree in areas related to science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM).

The initiative is launched within the framework of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which has been celebrated every February 11 since 2015.

Tomorrow, at 2:00 p.m. in Argentina, the British Council will give a virtual talk to provide more information about this initiative. Prior registration is required: https://bit.ly/3a7m86K (Télam)
