Researchers decry delays in scholarships and support provided by the Mexican Council for Science and Technology

“The lack of these resources has severely impacted our ability to continue our vital research. Research is fundamental to the development and progress of the state and nation; but it does not seem to receive the importance it deserves.

Last Thursday, representatives of nearly 200 affected researchers protested outside the government palace in the state of Mexico, because they cannot get a paid job because they have the support of COMECYT.

“We demand that the state government fulfill its commitment and pay the outstanding scholarships immediately or exclude exclusivity of access to resources by other means as an operational rule due to deferred payments.
