A Venezuelan citizen was wrongfully convicted in Peru and imprisoned for 7 months in the Luricancho prison, the largest in the country's prison system.

Guillermo Martín was walking down the street in Chaglacayo (east of Lima) when he was stopped by a full complement of plainclothes police, a very common practice by the Criminal Investigation Squad. They asked where you were the night before. After he replied that he was at home with his family, a police officer shouted: “He's Venezuelan, he's Chamo, he's Chamo. Samo is you! What have you done, boy?''
The VeneActiva organization collects his testimony and tells how it went with Guillermo in this complicated situation.
“One officer said, 'Look, it's a beard, it looks like it,' and then another said to me: 'What's going on, there's been a robbery, we want to know if it's you because you look so similar,'” he said.
He was arrested without any preliminary investigation because he was from Venezuela
Martin was subjected to a process far removed from due process, and was called to testify as an accused. No matter how hard he tried to prove his innocence, he could not be prevented from being detained for 15 days.
Worse later, an order sent him to Luricancho prison, the largest in all of Peru. He stayed there for 7 months.
