Ukraine has revoked the license of three TV stations, which were the property on paper of a member of parliament from the pro-Russian “Platform for Life” faction, but are suspected of belonging to businessman Viktor Medvedciuk, one of the country’s richest and most influential businesses. The three TV stations, Canal 112, NewsOne and ZIK immediately stopped broadcasting but are still broadcasting online. For Sergey Lishchenko, a former Ukrainian parliamentarian, the ban on television is a “strong signal” given to Russia, which it allegedly used in its propaganda campaign.
