New York (CNN) — McDonald's Big Mac is doubling in size again.

Starting January 24, the company will reintroduce the Double Big Mac meal to its menu, which contains four pieces of meat instead of the usual two, and will be sold for a limited time in the United States.

McDonald's briefly offered this product for sale Special edition burger In March 2020. The Double Big Mac announcement occurred just days before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the United States, forcing fast food chains to cut operating hours and reduce menu offerings, including this burger.

Unlike the previous version, the 2024 Double Big Mac includes the improvements McDonald's announced in 2023 to its flagship burger offering, including softer buns, grill settings adjustments for better cooking, and improvements to the way the cheese melts. Big Macs, in particular, have more sauce.

Limited-time offers are often marketing strategies to generate interest among customers who may be looking for competing alternatives. But there may be more behind this particular release.

Last month, McDonald's CEO Chris KempczinskiHe told CNN that his customers are craving larger burgers and that the chain is “working on that.” Selling a Double Big Mac is an easy way to offer a larger product because it requires no additional employee work and is made using existing ingredients.

McDonald's plan to create a bigger burger comes at a time when… Many customers are looking for ways to spend lessMcDonald's' expensive hamburger has become a symbol of inflation.

But the burger, even though it's bigger, shouldn't empty your bank account. “We believe we will be able to offer a great, great-tasting burger at a greater value than what we offer [los clientes] “It could go anywhere,” Kempczinski said.

McDonald's has sold different versions of the Big Mac in the past. In 2017 and 2018, it sold the Grand Mac and Mac Junior. Although the Grand Mac used two burger patties, they were larger than the regular patties on a traditional Big Mac and came on a larger bun.
