On Monday, President Klaus Iohanis sent a congratulatory message to US President-elect Joe Biden. Klaus Iohannis writes, “Congratulations to him on his election victory and thanks to Fiden for his contribution to the strategic partnership between Romania and the United States during his tenure as US Vice President.

“Dear President-elect,

It is with great honor and pleasure that I extend my congratulations on your election as President of the United States.

Romania is committed to continuing to promote our common goals of strategic security, security and economy as a trusted strategic partner of the United States.

Your tenure as President of the United States will certainly further strengthen the already excellent cooperation between Romania and the United States, to which you have already made a significant contribution, as Vice President. In this context, I am very happy to remember your visit to Romania in 2014 and your continued personal support for my country.

I look forward to celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Declaration of the Joint Strategic Partnership for the 21st Century between Romania and the United States in 2021, adopted during your tenure as Vice President. Romania and the United States share the values of democracy, human rights, good governance and the rule of law, and my strategic partnership contributes decisively to the democratic transformation of my country.

Romania is committed to tackling current challenges ranging from health to economy and climate change, and from protection to human rights, and our goal is to ensure a better future for our people.
