In a shocking statement to Canadian media, Claudette Dion, sister of legendary singer Celine Dion, has shared details of the artist’s difficult situation with a neurological disease known as Rigid Person Syndrome (RBS). The disease caused Celine Dion to lose control of her muscles, affecting her ability to sing and perform on stage.

“Celine works out a lot, but she has no control over her muscles,” Claudette Dion explained to Canadian media outlet 7Journals. “In our dreams and in her dreams, there is an idea to return to the stage. At what stage? I don’t know. Vocal chords are muscles and the heart is a muscle,” added the singer’s sister.

Celine Dion, 55, went public with her battle with MRS in October 2021, revealing that the disease affects her nervous system and causes muscle spasms. This condition forced her to cancel concerts in Las Vegas (USA) the same year. In December 2022, the illness led to the cancellation of a planned European tour in 2023, and subsequently, their entire world tour.

The artist, who won two Oscars and multiple Grammys, revealed in a statement in December 2022 that the cramps affect all aspects of her daily life, including her ability to walk. He also revealed that his vocal cords are affected, preventing him from singing the way he used to.

Claudette Dion also highlighted one of the challenges her sister faces: the limited medical research on difficult person syndrome because it affects so few people worldwide. The Dion family faces the daunting task of finding solutions amidst the rarity of this disease.

This eye-opening testimony sheds light on Celine Dion’s courageous battle and highlights the importance of raising awareness about rare diseases and the need for more research and resources to address their unique challenges.
