U.S. Ambassador to Romania Adrian Zuckerman met with Interim Prime Minister Nicola Cuca on Wednesday to meet with Kimberly Reid, chairman of the U.S. Import-Export Bank, and Alessia Duncan, assistant secretary of state for nuclear policy and international cooperation. .

The talks were attended by Romanian Deputy Prime Minister Raluka Durgan and Minister of Economy, Energy and Commerce Virgil Bobescu.

The agreement between the Romanian government and the US government on the cooperation between the Cernavoda nuclear and energy projects and the civilian nuclear sector in Romania, which was launched during the visit to the United States, was signed by the Minister of Economy Virgil Bobescu and the US Ambassador Adrian Zuckerman. Discussions at Victoria Palace focused on bilateral cooperation in the political, military, energy and economic spheres related to the Romania-US strategic partnership, particularly the US involvement in strategic projects of major interest to Romania. Cheese Initiative (I3M).

Discussions were held on the importance of the priority implementation of the Constanta-Gdansk Railway Project (Rail 2C), a transnational project that would have a strategic impact on economic growth, but with implications for ensuring military mobility between the north and south of NATO’s eastern side. At the same time, Prime Minister Nicola-Aonal Siouca noted the need to implement the Via Corbedia road project.

The U.S. side reaffirmed its commitment to a strategic partnership between Romania and the United States, including the role of the U.S. Import-Export Bank in supporting US exports to Romania and the implementation of projects related to the Cernavoda nuclear power plant. The representative of the Department of Energy, in this context, praised the long-term partnership with Romania in the field of energy.

Kimberly Reid, chairman of the U.S. Import-Export Bank, visited the Chernivtsi nuclear power plant on Tuesday with Adrian Zuckerman. The visit came to mark the start of the implementation of the agreement signed by Exim with the United States to implement Romania’s strategic nuclear programs.

We remind you that Romania and the United States in October entered into a Government Agreement to construct Units 3 and 4 of the Cernavoda Power Station, to upgrade Unit 1, and to cooperate at various levels in the field of civilian nuclear energy in Romania.

In addition to this agreement, there is a memorandum of understanding with Exim US (US Export-Import Bank) to provide $ 7 billion in funding for the development of nuclear projects, but there are other areas as well.
