SAN DIEGO — Kyle Schwarber hit another jaw-dropping home run at Petco Park and Zach Wheeler combined with three relievers.

Schwarber’s connected ball traveled 465 feet to center field. The Phillies won two of three to take the season series 5-2.

It was a replay of the National League Championship Series, which Philadelphia won in five games. With their tenth win in 15 games, the Phillies now have the first wild-card ticket to the playoffs on the Old Circuit.

San Diego, which has lost 8 of 13, generated about $250 million in payroll, the third-highest in Major League Baseball. They fell nine games below the .500 mark.

Schwarber found a 2-1 pitch for Michael Wacha’s 41st home run and 10th of the game. This broke Jimmy Rollins’ record of nine in 2007.

On Monday, in the series opener, Schwarber hit the ball 440 feet from home. In Game 1 of the ALCS, he hit an astonishing 488-foot home run.

The win went to Wheeler (11-6) and Wacha (11-3) at the other end.

For the Phillies, Panamanian Edmondo Sosa scored a run to make it 4-1.

For the Padres, Dominicans Fernando Tides 4-0, Juan Soto 3-0, Manny Machado 4-1, Gary Sanchez 2-0. 1-0 to Venezuela’s Jose Ashoka.
