News broke last week that North American carrier JetBlue was suspending all flights from the United States to Havana starting in mid-September because its services were not stable. Until now the airline had 20 weekly frequencies, mainly from Fort Lauderdale.

The backlog period for JetBlue flights to Cuba will be extended by three years, according to the special magazine AviationLine. But the media reported this weekend that other companies such as Delta Airlines and United will also cancel flights to Havana’s “José Martí” airport this year.

Information Purpose Delta had already applied to the US Department of Transportation (DoT) to not operate the Atlanta to Havana route for the summer. Now he has requested more suspensions from late October to March 2024, from Miami to Havana, although he will recover from Atlanta.

Experts indicate that demand for flights from the United States to Havana is “depressed”, although Delta hopes that everything will improve by the end of the year and the beginning of 2024. Cuban-American travelers aim to spend special dates on the island with their family and friends.

Delta and JetBlue are joined by United. Beginning in June, the company notified the DoT that, for economic reasons, it would no longer fly from Newark to Havana beginning at the end of October, thereby losing all nonstop flights between Cuba and New York. They said they would focus on their hub from Houston Airport to Havana.

As if that wasn’t enough, flights from American Airlines, the commercial airline with the most connections to Cuba, announced the number of daily flights from early September to the most important airport for Cuban-Americans, Santa Clara. , will decrease. , which connects to the rest of the island’s core.

From the 6th, the flight will be conducted at 10:05 a.m. and the departure time at 11:05 a.m., the airline officials assured.
