The Guardians defeated the Blue Jays in the top of the 11th with Calhoun’s double

TORONTO — Cole Calhoun hit a game-tying double in the 11th inning on Sunday and the Cleveland Guardians beat the Toronto Blue Jays 10-7.

Jose Ramirez and Ramon Laureno hit two home runs as the Guardians earned their second win in three games in Toronto.

Calhoun said he hopes the win will give Cleveland a boost ahead of a three-game series against AL Central-leading Minnesota.

“We hope to use that momentum as we now prepare for the biggest series of the year. It’s definitely a game you can use.”

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Davis Schneider both hit two-run homers and George Springer hit a solo shot, but it wasn’t enough for the Blue Jays, who have lost five of their last six games.

Jay Jackson (3-1) intentionally walked Ramirez in the 11th inning, and his wild pitch moved to second and third before Calhoun’s double.

Emmanuel Glass (2-7) collected the final 5 outs for the win.

For the Guardians, Dominicans Jose Ramirez was 2-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Ramon Laureano was 3-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored; and Venezuela’s Andres Gimenez went 6-1 with two RBIs.

For the Blue Jays, Dominican Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 5-1 with two RBIs and a run scored.
