ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Los Angeles Angels recorded their first triple in 26 years as Shohei Ohtani hit his second major league grand slam. However, they found a way to lose.

Harold Ramirez had three hits and Josh Lowe had three RBIs as the Tampa Bay Rays rallied to beat the Angels 9-6 in 10 innings on Friday night.

Ohtani’s second-inning grand slam gave Los Angeles a 5-1 lead. However, the angels could not protect it.

Tampa Bay looked to take the lead in the top of the ninth, but the Angels hit their first triple play in 26 years to keep the score tied at 6-6.

With runners on the corners and infield, Ramirez struck out Luis Rengifo. Shortstop got Randy Arosarena to retire second baseman Brandon Drury, then threw to first baseman Nolan Shanuel.

Yandy Diaz retired a perfect throw home to catcher Logan O’Hope.

The Rays scored three runs in the tenth inning to defeat Carlos Estevez (5-4).

The wins went to Pete Fairbanks (1-4) and Andrew Kittredge.

For the Rays, Cuba Diaz scored a run to make it 6-2. Mexico’s Arozarena went 3-1 with a run scored, Isaac Paredes was 4-1 with a run and an RBI. Ramirez, a Colombian, went 5-3 with one run and two RBIs. Dominican Jose Siri scored a goal without an official method. Venezuela’s Oslevis Pasabe scored a run at 5-2, while Rene Pinto went 5-2 with two RBIs.

For the Angels, Venezuelan Luis Rengifo scored a run in a 3-1 victory.
