CHICAGO — Josh Naylor hit a two-run single in the 10th inning and the Cleveland Guardians rallied to beat the Chicago Cubs 8-6 on Sunday after All-Star closer Emmanuel Klaas drove a four-run lead into the ninth.

Aaron Sivale pitched six innings of 3-hit ball, and then the start of the game was delayed nearly two hours by rain. Venezuela’s Andres Gimenez homered in the third and scored the go-ahead run in the 10th.

Gimenez opened the inning with an automatic runner at second and advanced on Amed Rosario’s single. Jose Ramirez’s ground out made it to second and third. Before that, Naylor hit a home run by Aubert Alsole (1-4) to put Middle of Cleveland up 8-6.

Sam Hendges (1-0) retired all three batters in the bottom half, handing the Cubs their sixth loss in seven games.

For the Guardians, Venezuelan Andres Gimenez went 4-2, with three runs scored and two walks. Dominican Jose Ramirez 5-0, Amed Rosario 5-2, two runs and two RBI.

For the Cubs, Dominican Christopher Morell went 5-3 with a goal and three RBI. Yan Gomes of Brazil, 4-1, scored one goal.
