UNAL replaced the Technological University of Pereira in the presidency, headed by Rector Luis Fernando Gaviria.
With this appointment, OCAD seeks to give continuity to public universities in leading the implementation of these resources that promote the development of the country.
“In the next two years, invitations will go out for about 3 billion pesos and they will go to OCAD to decide which sector to go to and conduct assignment and evaluation of the projects that have been awarded. We are here for institutional positions, so that UNAL has the leading role it deserves,” says Vice Chancellor Yunus.
OCAD is the body responsible for evaluating, making workable, approving and prioritizing programs and projects to be financed from SGR resources to increase the scientific, technological and innovative capabilities and competitiveness of the regions.
The projects developed for these sectors contribute to the use, production, integration and acquisition of knowledge in the academy and in the company.
The OCAD Presidency of the CTeI is responsible for actively participating in the construction of the Biennial Plan, for which 33 planning spaces have already been implemented for which territorial claims have been considered in open tables.
It should be remembered that FCTeI’s OCAD for SGR has three heads: (1) national government, (2) provincial government, and (3) universities.
On behalf of the national government, there is representation of Colciencias, three ministers and a representative of the Department of National Planning.
On behalf of the provincial government, six governors or their delegates for annual terms.
For universities, there are four representatives from public universities and two delegates from private universities, for two-year terms, with no possibility of immediate re-election. OCAD decisions are adopted with a minimum of two affirmative votes.
OCAD Science, Technology and Innovation
The purpose of allocating SGR in science, technology and innovation is to reduce the gaps corresponding to these areas in the country.
For this, inter-institutional coordination of departmental planning with strategic alliances between public or private entities belonging to the national science, technology and innovation system is required.
The goal is to increase scientific, technological and innovative capacity, and to enhance business development and competitiveness of regions through investment projects that contribute to the use, production, integration and appropriation of basic and applied knowledge in the productive apparatus and in society in general. This commitment includes the agricultural sector, among others, as well as projects that enhance connectivity and bridge the digital divide, contributing to social progress, economic dynamism, sustainable growth and increased prosperity for all residents.
