American company Google is facing a lawsuit in IllinoisThere he was accused of invasion of privacy. The amount at stake is $100 million. The reason for the legal claim is related to its facial recognition tool.

As agreed, the amount will be paid to thousands of Illinois residents who joined the lawsuit against Google. The deal was reached in 2022, and it’s now revealed how much affected people will receive: It ranges from $95 dollars per person.

According to official documents, Google’s facial recognition tool may have been breached in a specific case Illinois Biometric Security Act. He appeared in Cook County court on May 31, 2022. 687,484 state residents joined in this. By September of that year, a judge ruled in favor of the plaintiffs.

Not every Google user residing in Illinois will be financially compensated. Eligibility is determined by users of the Google Photos service from May 1, 2015 to April 25, 2022. Also, obviously, Be a resident of Illinois.

Individuals who meet these requirements must obtain a claim form. The deadline for filling it is September 4, 2022. According to Cook County, more than 687,000 people filed valid claims, resulting in payments of $95 to $96.

In 2008, the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act was passed, making it illegal for a company to collect a customer’s biometric identifiers without directly informing them, and the plaintiffs allege that none of them exist. Google informed them about the actions of Photos. Hence the reason for the request.
