Relatives of political prisoners celebrated the courage of a man who recreated the musical theme of “Que Se Via Ya” in full scale in San José de las Lajas on Friday, May Day.
“At the Plaza de San José de los Lajas, Mayabeque, they “celebrated” today, May 1st. Brothers Jorge Martin Pertomo, 38, and Nadir Martin Pertomo, 37, were sentenced to six and eight years in prison for participating in the demonstrations that erupted in the municipality of San José de las Lajas on July 11.
Political activist Marcel Valdez denounced the regime’s repression of young people awaiting trial at the Quivicán prison in Mayabeg province.
“Physical and psychological tortures were severe, so that they were kept in solitary confinement for days, they did not know whether it was day or night, food was thrown between the bars at the time the regime decided. They also received beatings and were forced to say Castroist slogans which they always denied, and they suffered from their brother. Often beaten in front of each other just to be seen,” Valdez said.
Since his incarceration, the family has returned to condemn the unjust imprisonment he is suffering.
The gesture of listening to that song in Mayabeque supported Jorge and Nadir Martin Bertomo’s cousins.
“Que se vaya” is a song by Cuban singer-songwriter Willy Cirino, who released a version last year with Lenier, Micha, Chagall, Osmani Garcia and Miss Dayana.
