New York, USA (CNN) – More than 170 key business leaders in the United States have signed a letter urging Congress to accept the results of the Electoral College’s announcement announcing the next President of the United States, Joe Biden.

“This presidential election is over and the time has come for the country to move forward. President-elect Joe Biden and vice-president-elect Kamala Harris have won … there should be no further delay in the proper transfer of power,” he wrote in the letter.

The letter was released Monday by the New York City Partnership, a leading advocacy group for the business community.

Catherine Wilde, the group’s chief executive, says all but one of the first two signatories were asked to sign the letter.

In addition to the letter, the Business Roundtable, a non-profit organization that includes the leaders of the largest corporations in the United States, said in a statement that it “opposes attempts to delay or cancel the transparent results of the elections.”

Congress may meet on Wednesday to approve the election results, which is a routine process. But at least 140 Republicans in the House of Representatives and dozens of Republicans in the Senate are preparing to vote against Biden’s victory in an attempt to overturn the election results, although there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud.
