The prosecutor’s office is investigating the deaths of six inmates at Guayaquil prison

(CNN Spanish) — Attorney General of Ecuador said on Twitter on Wednesday It launched an official investigation after six inmates were found dead inside Guayas Detention Center No. 1 in Guayaquil.

Ecuador’s National Service for the Comprehensive Care of Deprived and Adolescent Offenders (SNAI) reported on Wednesday that prison officials found six inmates dead in prisons.

According to a statement shared with journalists, the discovery was made when agents of the Security and Prison Service reviewed the wards of the prison, also known as Littoral.

They informed the concerned authorities and started removing the bodies. “The Service and the authorities of the Center provide all facilities to their respective institutions for related procedures and investigations,” the brief concluded.
