An international press article warns that an exciting update is coming to some Android phones later this year, but not all Samsung Galaxy owners will be able to take advantage of it.

According to British media ExpressAndroid 14 is Google’s next operating system, which “will bring many new features to phones later this year, including better performance and more protection against fake apps.”

Likewise, Samsung’s own version of this software, called One UI 6.0, will come with a free update that will apparently “miss some Galaxy devices.”

While most of Samsung’s new smartphones, including the Galaxy S21, get up to four annual updates, the above text points out that this isn’t always the case.

“Devices like the Galaxy S20 only offer three years of OS changes, and that’s bad news for owners who want access to Android 14 and One UI 6.0, as they won’t be available,” they add.

While Google has yet to confirm the exact date Android 14 will arrive, it is expected to be “later in 2023, with the company’s Pixel devices likely to receive the new features first.”

Likewise, it has been announced that “Samsung will release the first beta version of One UI 6.0 in September or October 2023.”

The article provides a list of cell phones that will not get the update later this year. Those looking to get it are also advised to switch to this year’s newer devices like the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy A34 and A54.
