On December 10, the “Casa de las Artes Salas” Foundation opened the Naif Museum of Latin American Art, Manla, in a ninety-year-old heritage mansion.

To create a Museum of Latin American Naif Art, it is in the Lima Law of August 25, 2018, through which the Latin American Alliance of Naif Artists was created, the same museum that indicated the city of Quito as its headquarters and home in which MANLA operates today. The agreement was signed by delegations of artists from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Peru and Ecuador. To date, an infinite number of countries and more than 3,300 artists, cultural managers and fans of the silly world have joined the coalition.

The enterprise project has three components; the recently opened museum which will receive exclusively naïve-style works by Latin American artists; an art gallery that receives temporary exhibitions of all pictorial styles; And the operation of plastic arts workshops, which are still in the conception stage, along with a public training plan that seeks to awaken the public’s motivation, especially the younger ones, for art and the spaces in which it is displayed.

Wilson Salas Valdivieso, President of the Foundation and Director of MANLA, noted in his inauguration that the museum was created as an act of compensation for an art that has been marginalized from traditional galleries and museums due to opposition to what is “spontaneously or deliberately academically correct”. In Art. In Manla, open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., you can see works by Ecuadorian artist Gonzalo Endara Cro, among others, by artists from Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Haiti, and a large selection of works. Cuban and Central American Art.

MANLA also presents its first temporary exhibition: “Selections” by Cuenca-based artist Elnayef Josefina Flandoli; In her exhibition, the series “El infinito cotidiante” by the abstract artist Jorge Arce Lima is presented. A romantic tunnel of trees and a quiet Alpine-style inn, built under the influence of Central European immigration in the first half of the 20th century, accompany the journey to reach this magical place, located in one of the most beautiful streets of the Republic. The capital, in the so-called pink area, in the heart of the hustle and bustle, between Via Reina Victoria and Via 6 de December.
