Colombian Football Federation president Ramon Jesurun’s talk about the awards won by the Colombian women’s team at the U-17 World Cup in India has caused a lot of controversy.

Youths make history: Colombia have never made it past the group stage in previous editions and they have already reached the semi-finals at this World Cup, beating Tanzania 3-0 in the quarter-final round this Saturday.

“The awards are only given to professional footballers who are amateur women (amateur).”, Jezurun’s ruling created controversy.

So Alvaro Gonzalez Alsade from India came out in defense of the confederation, correcting Alsade’s method, making it clear that the U-17 national team would have prizes.

However, the coach spoke to Carlos Bañagua ‘Win Games’ He also revealed the details of the financial incentives offered by the federation to the women’s team.

“We went to the South American championships in Uruguay with these girls, we qualified for the World Cup and the confederation gave us an award. With the U-20 national team in South America and the World Cup, they were recognized with an award,” Paniagua admitted when talking about the cash prizes received by the protagonists of women’s soccer.

He also revealed that “here (in the U-17 World Cup) there was a prize agreed with the players for goals. The confederation already has a prize for going to the quarter-finals and another prize for going to the semi-finals”.

“The misconception is that the confederation does not receive money from FIFA to advance in every event. “The federation has always recognized the team’s effort,” coach Paniagua emphasized.

“Already here there is a prize agreed by the confederation, there is a prize for going to the quarter-finals, there is a prize for going to the semi-finals, and suddenly there is a misunderstanding that the confederation does not receive money from FIFA for advancing to each event” Carlos Baniagua, TD of Cell.
