New earthquake hits Mexico, now magnitude 6.8 and kills at least two

A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck Mexico 1:13

(CNN Spanish) — At least two people were killed in an earthquake that struck Mexico early Thursday, Mexico City’s defense secretary said.

“After the earthquake alert was activated, a woman fell down the stairs of her home and lost her life after hitting her head,” it said. In a tweet of the Secretariat.

A Second message On the same social network, the agency said police officials were aware of a man who died of a heart attack in an academic neighborhood after the earthquake.

Claudia Scheinbaum, head of the Mexico City government, confirmed there were two deaths.

The Mexican Seismic Warning System is a warning system that provides up to 60-second warnings of earthquakes to some states in the center and south of the country.

A 6.8 magnitude earthquake was reported in southern Mexico this Thursday morning, according to the country’s report. United States Geological Survey (USGS).

According to reports, the quake was located 46 kilometers south-southwest of Aguilla in Mexico’s Michoacán state.

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador shared a video message on Twitter in which he said the quake was felt in the states of Michoacán, Colima, Jalisco, Guerrero and Mexico City.

In a second video message, he said he had spoken with the defense secretary and that there were no reports of damage and that information was being gathered.
