The Secretary of Human Rights of the Nation, Horacio Pietragalla announced this Monday in Corrientes that from next week the Association of the Memory Space of the former Infantry Regiment 9 will have free access to the site, in what represents an advance of the efforts faced before various areas of the national State.

Meeting with the Civil Association of the Memory Space of the Ex Ri9 de Corrientes, Pietragalla communicated on the Army property the opening of the site that was a clandestine detention center during the civic-military dictatorship for the members of the organization, in order to coordinate the preservation and improvements.

The decision communicated this Monday represents a concrete step towards the opening of a memory space in that site, where the group of organizations that make up the civil association will be able to establish themselves with the aim of developing mechanisms for the permanent construction of memory about what happened in Corrientes and in Argentina around dictatorships.

The official made the announcement together with Correntinos and Corrientes survivors of that and other concentration and extermination camps of the 1976 Argentine dictatorship, after a meeting held in offices that by law were declared a site of memory.

In this meeting, the needs and tools available for the development of institutional policies with social participation around the Memory, Truth and Justice axes were reviewed.

The Civil Association of the Memory Space of the Ex Ri9 celebrates the official determination, which constitutes a real advance on the way to the construction of a place with guarantees of intangibility for its specific purpose: to build memory against oblivion and the veiled intentions of political projects who try to hide under real estate deals what happened in a historical stage in Corrientes and Argentina.
