The Sinaloa Science Center will become part of the nascent General Coordination for the Promotion of Scientific Research and Innovation of the State of Sinaloa.

This was established by the legislators in the State Congress when approving the first reading that proposes to reform the Law of Science, Technology and Innovation of the State of Sinaloa.

In this way, the deputies will create a legal basis for the Science Center to be obliged to disseminate and teach science in the state.

Said reform proposes that the Science Center complement the educational process of formal school programs in the various areas of scientific and technological knowledge.

“The Science Center of Sinaloa is a body dependent on the Coordination and will exercise its powers in accordance with this Law. Encourage the youth and society of Sinaloa on training alternatives in disciplines derived from technology and natural and exact sciences” , reads the opinion document, which was read during the session on Thursday

To achieve this, it is intended that the General Coordination for the Promotion of Scientific Research and Innovation have the facilities of the aforementioned enclosure, in order to support the educational, scientific, technological community and the general public with educational services.

It should be noted that among the other provisions proposed within the Law of Science, Technology and Innovation of the State of Sinaloa, An exclusive annual budget is contemplated to support science and innovation to reach the goal of 1 percent of the Gross Domestic Product.

Deputy Cinthia Valenzuela Langarica and president of the Science and Technology Commission in the State Congress, and author of one of three initiatives that were taken into account for the preparation of the corresponding approved opinion, she assured that regarding the budget, today the State Congress takes a step forward.

However, he observed that there are still pending proposals that also have the purpose of providing the sector with greater resources and thus strengthening and guaranteeing an institutional design that further promotes better coordination between the public, private and academic sectors in order to have better public policies on science and technology.
