High-Level Intergovernmental Russia-Venezuela (CIAN), both countries signed an intergovernmental agreement for cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes.According to both countries, this cooperation expands the possibilities of applying space technologies that will improve the daily life, remote sensing and telecommunications, among other aspects. The Venezuelan authorities have highlighted that space exploration and the use of outer space are for peaceful purposes and seek to maintain outer space as an exclusive sphere of research and joint exploration for the good common.

CARACAS (Sputnik) – The National Assembly of Venezuela (unicameral parliament, with an official majority) approved in the first discussion the bill for the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, following the agreement signed by the Government with Russia.

“The bill approving the agreement between the Government of Venezuela and the Russian Federation on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes is declared approved in the first discussion,” said the president of the Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, after submit the project to a vote before the plenary.

Rodríguez sent the bill to the permanent commission on Education, Health, Science, Technology and Innovation for the preparation of a report, to later submit it to a second discussion.

On March 30, in the framework of the meeting of the Russia-Venezuela High-Level Intergovernmental Commission (CIAN), both countries signed an intergovernmental cooperation agreement in the Peaceful exploration and use of outer space.

In agreement with both countries, this cooperation expands the possibilities of applying space technologies that will improve daily life, remote sensing and telecommunications, among other aspects.
