In September 2021, remittances in the country reached US $ 829.6 million, surpassing the US $ 52.3 million recorded in September 2020.

This was established by the central bank report released this Sunday, which valued the US dollar at 262.8, 46.4% of the money received in September 2019, the year before the epidemic.

Money transfers between January and September this year reached US $ 7,861.3 million, an increase of US $ 2,011.5 million over the same period in 2020, recording 34.4% year-on-year growth.

From a country of more than 2 million people of Dominican descent, the continuous improvement in the economic conditions of the United States (United States) is one of the main factors influencing the behavior of remittances. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 84.6% of the vote came in September.

With the exception of the United States, remittances from Spain stand alone at 6.9%, according to the central bank. Haiti and Italy follow with 1.1% and 0.9%, respectively. The remaining receipt of payment is distributed between countries such as Switzerland, Canada and Panama.

With regard to the distribution of remittances received by the provinces, the National District received the highest rate, 33.9%, followed by the provinces of Santiago and Santo Domingo with 14.1% and 8.5%, respectively. This indicates that more than half (56.5%) of remittances are sent to major cities in the country.
