The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism (MIDR) broke down an old structure used in the country to promote overseas, in which only two companies participated for about 16 years.

Now, the ministry, led by David Collado, has developed monitoring of good practices involving universities, the private sector, the church and other departments to ensure that the agencies responsible for international tourism development are selected through a transparent process.

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the National Association of Hotels and Restaurants (AzonaHors) are participating in this new system.

“This is a clear indication that our management is not after commissions, it is not after business, and there is very little support for a friend.”, Highlighted Colorado during a laboratory presentation.

The Minister pointed out Each year, the Dominican Republic allocates $ 75 million to promote international tourism. Therefore, these resources must be well managed.

“We have taken the country’s money seriously because the $ 75 million is a significant amount,” he said.

Colorado also insisted that more than $ 2 billion was saved in international advertising during his first year in office. He explained that contracts with two companies responsible for promoting this goal in the United States and Europe had been canceled.

The tourism minister stressed that the new administration had thwarted a 16-year international advertising campaign, which was not the result of a competitive process.

He emphasized that the letter was not a signal of a formal antitrust inquiry into the allegations, but rather a signal of a formal antitrust inquiry into the allegations.

For this reason, Collado said he had invited Miguel Franான்ois, director of Liston Diario, to start a good practices monitoring center; Director of Diario Liber, Ines Icepan; And Alicia Ortega, vice chair of the SIN team; So the participants in what the media is doing.

“A laboratory of the good practices of these characteristics will undoubtedly increase transparency in the selection process of stakeholders and service providers in your field. Thanks to this program, we build public confidence in the utilization of state resources and provide equal opportunities for public, private and civil society organizations to participate in this process.” Pololicashvili said.

He pointed out that UNWTO supports such initiatives because they strengthen the resumption of tourism in the world.
