Elon Musk and the question he uses to find out if they lie to him in job interviews

Surely you are used to being asked in the middle of a job interview about your qualities, flaws, and tastes, among other things.

Another frequently asked question is also: “What was the most difficult problem you faced and how was it solved”.

Well, although some interview questions seem like innocent questions, they really aren’t.

This was revealed, for example, by the millionaire and Tesla boss, Elon Musk, who noted that this is exactly the question he uses to figure out if people are lying to him in a job interview.

In 2017, Musk was invited to the World Government Summit, and revealed in a panel discussion midway through the event, that to select the future brilliant minds for his company, he asks them about their tough times and how they were resolved. Or skip that moment.

According to Musk, after the candidates respond, he takes the opportunity to ask more detailed questions about the situation, pending a much deeper account of what happened.

According to him, “If they really solve the problem, they know the exact way they solved it, and they know the little details.”

In the billionaire way, if a person knows and tells details, it is because he told the truth about the situation he told.

Conversely, if a person makes superficial data and avoids going into information and details, it is because he lied about it.

“Usually everyone who has already dealt with the problem understands it and does not forget it,” said the businessman.

The Musk method is not new, it has already been studied by some behavioral journals.

A study by the Journal of Applied Research in Memory and Cognition indicates that this is an effective way to “catch” liars, since it is those small details, such as those investigated by Musk, that allow fact-checking, even in criminal acts.
