Meet the new Windows 11 from Microsoft 0:57

New York (CNN Business) – Microsoft urges Windows users to install the update immediately after security analysts detect a vulnerability in the operating system.

Security vulnerability, also known as printnightmare, affects Windows Axis Spooler service. Researchers at the cyber security company Sangpore have released a guide to accidentally exploiting it.

At the end of May, researchers tweeted that they had found vulnerabilities in the print spoiler that would allow multiple users to access the printer. They mistakenly published the source of the comment and then deleted it, but not before it was published anywhere else on the Internet, including the developer site GitHub.

Microsoft has warned that hackers who use vulnerabilities can install programs, view and delete data, or create new user accounts with full user rights. This gives you enough command and control of your computer to inflict serious damage to hackers.

Not just on Windows 10

Windows 10 is not the only affected version: Windows 7, which Microsoft stopped supporting last year, is vulnerable.

Despite announcing that it will no longer provide updates for Windows 7, Microsoft has released an update to its 12-year-old operating system, which underscores the severity of the Print Nightmare flaw. Updates for Windows Server 2016, Windows 10, version 1607 and Windows Server 2012 are “expected soon”, he said.

“We recommend that you install these updates immediately,” the company said.

If there is any good news, the current security update is overall, which includes previous fixes for previous security issues.

Microsoft is on alert

This is the latest in a series of security warnings issued by Microsoft over the past year and a half. In 2020 the National Security Agency (NSA) warned Microsoft of a major flaw in its Windows operating system, which would allow hackers to impersonate. The company is embroiled in various security issues by legitimate software companies.

This year, hundreds of thousands of users Exchange The hackers came under attack after four vulnerabilities in their software were allowed to access the servers of the popular email and calendar service. Microsoft is also subject The catastrophic split of the Solar Winds.

It is worth noting that Microsoft has not released a link for Windows 11, its new operating system coming out soon, currently available in beta testing. According to CCS Insight, Windows 11 comes six years after Microsoft last modified its operating system with Windows 10.
