PREPARATION for the new school year began with preparation for a worst-case scenario for employees of Cleveland Schools during a “welcome back” general assembly held Monday morning at the Event Center. Cleveland Police Officer Jeremiah Godfrey gives high school social studies teacher Bob Banfield  a lesson in the proper technique of applying a tourniquet using the arm of CHS art teacher Bao Yang. Officers Godfrey and Stephen Stephens reviewed a number of emergency measures in an effort to help teachers and other school personnel be better prepared should they ever have to deal with serious injuries at school.  Cleveland Police will once again practice responding as a rescue task force in an active shooter exercise Saturday morning at Cleveland Middle School. “Actors” will be used to play the roles of students, teachers, etc. as officers respond to such a 911 call.
