house Desiree Laurie It has changed over time, just as she has evolved as a person and a professional. It is a space that has adapted to her married life, her role as a mother, and her professional growth.
“When I was 30, we had closed the door on buying this. house And I remember we celebrated in the backyard with pizza and champagne. Well, “We have been living here for 22 years,” recalls Roberto Fabian and Felipe Andres’ mother.
In just over two decades, there have been many changes. The latest part of a near-complete home remodel was the creation of a “witch room.” This is how the model, presenter and content creator calls the closet that will be the new place where she will record the fashion capsules “Súbete lo linda” that she broadcasts on her YouTube channel, where she has surpassed one million subscriptions.
“It's a space that I really love because it has a lot of light and I feel peaceful… I'm happy because if I need to work, I have my office space, and if I need to get ready in peace and quiet, I can too. It's a place where I can continue doing what I've been doing for the past few years as a YouTube creator. He says.
The new room was built on the third floor of the house, where a hot tub and entertainment area previously stood. It was the perfect space because it was separate from the rest of the house and could be built in an “open space” style, so that recording could take place in the closet area or in the makeup and hair area, and the placement of lights and cameras could be done without any problems.

“I always wanted to have a lot of light so that I could not only have natural light for videos, but for myself as well. This kind of light makes you feel at peace. We see everything as beautiful in this light, so I think that's the main thing, to keep that sense of clarity inside.
A spacious desk has also been placed where you can edit and work without interruption.
“In that area we took advantage of the corner to make an L-shaped desk and we saw that the back wall was naturally the perfect wall to make the closet because it was a long wall. Not only does it help me fit more stuff into that closet, but also for videos. Once I have everything set up, it’s time to decorate so that it continues to look aesthetically pleasing. I think that, sometimes, that's one of the biggest struggles we have with our closets, we want them to look like stores, “But maybe, well, we started one way when we fixed it and screwed it up again,” the model notes.
For those who struggle with this issue, Lori suggests organizing clothes by color and silhouette. Divide up the spaces for different clothing items and then divide them by style. For example, group short-sleeved and long-sleeved blouses.
“I try to layer shoes according to shades and patterns (depending on what they are), and how stylish they are. So I basically arranged the closet in a way that would allow me to find things quickly and easily. In other words, I look in the closet and I already know where everything is. The important thing is to have the discipline to put things back where they belong. So let's see how it goes,” he emphasizes.
Although she has been sharing fashion and beauty tips for nearly three decades, it wasn't until seven years ago that the 1995 Miss Universe Puerto Rico began creating media capsules that caught the attention of women of all ages who found the content useful.
“The first video I made for networks was actually for Facebook. It was a video I recorded on my iPhone in front of my bedroom window. It was a makeup tutorial, because Roberto (Cardona’s husband) told me one day, “You should record these makeup and fashion tutorials.” He recalls, “Haven’t you seen these videos on YouTube?”
He did, and when he showed the video to Cardona, he insisted on uploading it to his Facebook page and then to his YouTube channel, which he had at the time, and which was affiliated with his modeling agency. To both of their surprise, many people watched the video and so he started creating more on other topics. In the process, Lori learned how to shoot high-quality videos and how to edit them as well.
All production was done in his home, so when the pandemic hit, he was able to continue doing what he loved most at a time when his audience was clamoring for more content. However, the coronavirus also caused her husband to start working from his home office, and Lori took over the dining room as the hub for editing the videos she recorded in their bedroom.
This situation prompted them to consider remodeling their home. Within this project, create an exclusive space for production.
Lori highlights that she has been working with women of all ages for many years, since her years as a beauty queen, model, communicator, owner of a modeling agency, and in her collaboration with Plaza Las Américas through fashion videos, which were originally intended only for them. Making it for television and then for social networks.
The Cardona-Lori family home remodel was a major project that involved changing the flooring and making arrangements in different areas, such as the “family room,” one of the most used areas by everyone.
One of the presenter's favorite areas is the living room, where she starts her day every morning with a cup of coffee.
“My house has a used room. When I was young, the living room in my house was not used. It was only for visiting. But the living room in my house is used and it is my favorite space to have coffee in the morning… I almost always sit in the area, facing the exit doors to the balcony, where a very beautiful light comes in during the morning, a soft light,” he admits.
From that angle, Laurie looks back with satisfaction on the home he has created and enjoys it to the fullest with his loved ones. It is a functional space, where everyone coexists, and at the same time, it is a haven of peace.
“For me, it’s very important to feel like the house is full. I don’t like feeling empty, and I don’t like not listening. Even though I have my office here, I need it so I can disconnect, but when I’m home, if the kids aren’t there, I miss not hearing those voices from them. So I imagine the day we both leave is going to be very hard. Because For me, a home without sound, without that energy, is not a home.“S,” he concludes.
