In August, university members from the Noble and Biobio regions met to close the project.One Health: A multidisciplinary strategy for the prevention of emerging diseases”, which received funding from the National Agency for Research and Development (Anid), led by academic Jacqueline Sepulveda of the University of Concepción (UdeC), and on this occasion a statement of collaboration between study houses was signed to strengthen the initiative that has the support of the Sermi of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation of the South-Central Macro Region, Gustavo Núñez.
In this context, they recently met to organize joint work and learn about the various initiatives undertaken by each institution in this field.One Health“One Health,” which translates as “One Health,” is promoted by PAHO/WHO as “a comprehensive and unified approach that aims to balance and improve the health of people, animals and ecosystems,” and which it considers essential to meeting the challenges posed by the triple crisis affecting the planet and humanity: climate, biodiversity and the environment.
The initiative seeks to unify the capabilities and efforts of the Academy, and address the axes of undergraduate and graduate studies, research and development, and links with the environment.
The approach One Health “For the development of science in BioBio, this means a major advance for the perspective of research carried out in the region with its application in the field of human health. Collaboration between academia and the public sector is fundamental here. An approach like One Health suggests the urgent need to integrate a multidisciplinary perspective into research,” said Nunez.
The next meeting will be a symposium on November 5th at UdeC.
