Longtime municipal judge René Henry is planning to retire, according the agenda released ahead of Thursday’s regularly scheduled city council meeting.

The February council agenda says the council intends to appoint local attorney Lawrence Martin to take over the bench.

Also on the agenda is the city utility rates. Last week, a Tulsa TV station ran a story about Cleveland’s gas rates, which likely is the reason for the open discussion.

Anyone who signs in prior to the start of the meeting can speak briefly on any matter listed on the agenda.

In addition to the city judge and utility rates, the council will be addressing the construction of a new swimming pool, a contract with American Tower for a cell phone tower lease buyout, and it is expected to enter executive session to discuss the city manager position. City manager Elzie Smith retires this year. Applications to fill the job were taken through the end of 2018.

Thursday’s meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Building (fire station) located on North Broadway.
